IDEA is delighted to launch ‘Beyond 2015: Learning for Global Partnership’.

This is a follow-up to last year’s ‘Global Educator in Residence’ programme. This year, the focus is on the Millennium Development Goals – in particular MDG 8 (Creating a Global Partnership for Development).
By concentrating on MDG 8, this programme seeks to contribute to a critical and multi-perspective review of the MDGs from a development education viewpoint.

This month, the United Nations will hold an international summit to reflect on the last 10 years of the MDGs and to focus efforts on achieving the goals in the remaining 5 years. What opportunities are there for development educators to contribute to the discussion on the last 5 years of the MDGs and, crucially, on creating a new framework for global development beyond 2015? What are the perspectives from the Global South that we could consider in our educational approach to the MDGs? The programme will support participants to explore these questions and more – for example, how can we incorporate alternative, even critical, perspectives on the MDGs into our practice? How can or should DE support efforts to achieve the MDGs? How can we support learners to actively engage with decision-makers on development issues?

IDEA is inviting applications from organisational members to participate in this 8-month learning programme. Organisations who apply should nominate a staff member who will participate and be responsible for sharing the learning within the organisation throughout and after the programme. To facilitate organisational learning, participation of key staff members from the organisation will is also encouraged at different points throughout the programme. The reason for this is to facilitate the integration of the learning from the programme beyond the paricipant.
We particularly welcome applications from organisations who are already engaging with the MDGs in other areas of their work and seek to relate this to their DE work.
Please see our leaflet (below) for details about activities involving participants and activities where the support person/organisation may be involved.

Click here (or in the list of files below) to access the application form. This is an electronic form that is submitted via email. Adobe Reader version 8 or newer is required. Please email us if you have any technical difficulties with it.

The deadline for receipt of applications is 10am, 27th September 2010.

The programme is funded by Trócaire’s ‘Mobilising for Justice’ Grants Scheme. We would like to acknowledge the support of Irish Aid.
